Project Progress

I am worried!


    So how is the project going? Hmm..not that good, but not that bad. I pray that we will be able to finish on time because I am very scared.


    Haha...my stress never ends! You would think I learned my lesson with AICE Global Perspectives, with procrastination, but it looks like I did not. I know how to make PowerPoint and write essays, and if I push myself hard enough, I can finish that eight-minute presentation. However, filming and editing are not my expertise, especially with having to rely on other people. Basically, we do not have time this break to film with each other because two out of four of us went on vacation and our spring breaks are almost completely booked out, so we will not be able to refilm our shots unfortunately, which really disappointed me, but things happen and we will just work around it. We found out about our schedules pretty late, so we were only at the beginning of our editing because we were waiting for the rest of the filming to be complete.


    Nevertheless, I feel like we are not doing that bad! We got most of our filming done since we had three days of filming and we don't need to film extra stuff if we edit well enough, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so this destroyed me. WE ARE NOWHERE NEAR DONE WITH EDITING! PLEASE SEND HELP! There have been some unforeseen issues with our editing and we are now panicking to get this opening sequence by our deadline by the end of our spring break. I think we are done for...I'm half kidding. I think we will really need to bite our tongue and get through the rest of our editing to finally be free from this project. Also, Adobe Premiere Pro is way too hard for any of us to use, so we will be switching to CapCut for the sake of our beginner skills. Well, this was my sign to never procrastinate ever again.

Camera Shots and Angles Post 1. Establishing Shot I was kind of shy about having my face in all the videos, so I thought an establishing shot would be an excellent way to balance it out. In fact, establishing shots are usually used to introduce a location and to show where the action is taking place. Plus. also gives information about what time it is and what time of year it is. Mood Board Coraline (2009) Directed by Henry Selick      The movie Coraline (2009) is every child's worst nightmare. Theater-watching dogs, a talking cat, and instrument-playing mice make it all seem comical and childish; however, surprisingly, adults and children are horrified by this movie. It is not visually scary but conveys a more eerie and unsettling mood, the type that sends chills down your spine. We see Coraline slip into this new world, being deceived by her two-faced and button-eyed Other Mother as she uses the old doll of Coraline to watch her. The audience can't help but hopelessly watch her fall down this trap. Moreover, it uses elements that aren't gory or bloody but more underlying childhood fears like being separated from your parents, trapped, or bugs. The black void-like eyes and luring voice bring the audience back to the reality that she is evil and not her real mother. She keeps urging Coraline to stay and sew a button in her eyes. Specific Camera Shots/Angles

Specific Camera Shots/Angles These are fire!      There were NUMEROUS different camera shots and angles in our opening sequence, but there were three specific ones that we picked that looked absolutely amazing in our final project. These ones were kind of made up on the spot, while we were at the playground, and we were so excited to have these in our project. They were so genius and we felt like real film directors. Overhead Shot      We wanted a shot where you could see the main character (Hailey) playing with her dolls, but also, to make it clear that she is alone, we chose an overhead shot. As a result, this allows the audience to establish what she is doing and also see her surroundings, making it clear that she is alone and vulnerable. The shot isolates her and makes her seem smaller and weak, so it evokes feelings of apprehension that she is a young child who can be kidnapped at any time, especially with all the missing children reports.
